Japan-based Siekei, Ongori shine in Kisii

Siekei clocked 36:56.37 beating Macdonald Ondara by more than 100m. Ondara clocked 37:48.03 while Boaz Mayaka was third in 38:08.08. Siekei ran an individual race leading from the beginning to the finish. “I have not been training of late, but as from now I want to concentrate on speed ahead of the national trials,” he said.
Said Salim clocked 38:22.62 to finish fourth while Zachayo Nyariki (38:34.83) was fifth. In the senior women’s 8km event, Ongori beat Jeliah Tinega in a hotly-contested race.
The Japan-based runners exchanged the lead before Ongori broke away to win in 28:12.56 and Tinega in 28:23.56. Alice Mogire ( 30:15.83) finished third while Hyline Mong’ (30:41.32) was fourth and Gucha’s Phyllis Moriti (30:50.08) came in fifth.
Isaiah Ondieki clocked 24:15.92 to win the junior men’s 8km event followed by Paul Tanui of Keroka Technical who clocked 24:18.14. Joseph Onsarigo was third in 24:38.46 while Nyota’s Moses Nkeiywa was fourth in 24:40.61. Morris Mosima, who was tipped to win the race, was relegated to fifth position in 24:43.35.
He is a younger brother to former world youth cross-country champion Phillip Mosima. Klitschko’s trainer, Emanuel Steward, said he does not see any way his fighter will lose, but conceded the left-handed Ibragimov is no pushover. “You have to fight Vladimir’s arms before you fight Vladimir,” Steward said of his fighter’s reach.
