Until late yesterday afternoon, the Kisii club's trip appeared unlikely following the abortive funds raising meeting scheduled for Kisii last Sunday.

The club's chairman Joseph Matundura had accused a senior Kenya Football Federation officials of being behind the chaos that erupted during the meeting where the chief guest was Maina Kariuki who is vying for the KFF chairmanship post in the March 25 elections against, among others, outgoing KFF secretary General Sam Nyamweya. Sunday's funds raising meeting in Kisii, convened to assist the club raise finds to enable it travel to Khartoum, ended in chaos when police stormed the meeting and dispersed those who had come to attend the funds drive.
Shabana, who have been camping in Nakuru for the continental tie, need at least Sh3 million to be able to participate effectively in the CAF Cup and have appealed to well wishers and other donors to assist the club.
Matundura said that it was wrong for a senior KFF official, whom he did not name, to interfere with club matters simply because a rival candidate is conducting a funds drive in aid of Shabana.
"Shabana has all the right to support any candidate for the top seat they feel is right to lead the country's soccer scene and we fail to understand why some of the aspirants are jittery simply because Shabana did not invite them to the funds drive," said Matundura.
The chairman was due to link up with his players in Khartoum for the Friday game. The squad for the trip is: goalkeepers - Jack Gatheru, Robert Obare, Alfred Misati; defenders - Anthony Waweru, Sammy Opwapo (captain), Dennis Hosea, Chrispin Baraza, Anthony Luziki, Japhet Kenyatta, Rashid Omar; midfielders - Bernard Kitolo, George Osama, Ismail Abdul, Peter Kakonge, Charles Otieno, Daniel Sakwa; forwards - Geoffrey Okoth, Dennis Okangi and Robinson Makokha.
The officials are Nicholas Anyuga (team manager), Chris Angwenyi (doctor), Sospeter Nyariaro (secretary) and Flemming Jacobsen (coach).
