Ex-Principal Denies He Was Involved in Boy's Murder
Ombuki Akuma told Kisii magistrate David Kemei that the August 12, 2001 murder of Meshack Ondari Gichana was committed by an irate mob in his compound.
The teacher told an inquest into the boy's death that the girl purported to have been having an affair with the deceased is his niece and not daughter.
Akuma further claimed the girl was only 13 years old when the incident occurred and could not have been involved in a love affair with the former Form Four student at Taranganya High School.
Bosire's family claims Akuma and his watchman were involved in the murder of the former school boy over a suspected love affair before fabricating a cattle theft incident to cover up the crime.
The case has been fixed for further hearing on July 8, this year. Inspector Sammy Ombogo is representing the State. Lawyer Kepha Mogire represents the family while Nyambega Mose is representing the suspect.
Meanwhile, a former Kisii Kanu branch vice chairman, Mr Zachary Motari, has been arrested.
Motari was arrested on Thursday at his Birongo village home by Kisii police over a Sh3,754,518.20 debt he allegedly owes Trans National Finance Company Ltd.
Kisii police boss Anderson Wambugu said his men had been trailing Motari following a warrant of arrest issued by the High Court in Nairobi dated September13, last year and another one from the Kisii court issued last October 28.
The former Gusii County Council chairman was yesterday arraigned before Kisii High Court judge, Justice Isaac Wambilianga.
He was released on a Sh50,000 bond after an application by his lawyer George Masese, but ordered to appear in the Nairobi court for the hearing of the case against him within seven days.
