Fighting for a love that never was
Residents of Ogembo town were treated to a mid-morning spectacle when two bar attendants fought after a HIV/Aids test row. The incident took place at the entrance to Gucha District Hospital at the weekend, drawing the attention of the facility’s workers and patients.
The two women had allegedly been sharing a well known bar owner in the town for some time. Trouble for them began after one of them went for a HIV/Aids test at the hospital’s VCT centre. After the test, she decided that it was only fair that her ‘co-wife’ go through a similar exercise. But her proposal was snubbed.
The second woman refused to be tested, arguing that she would easily know her status. "Since my ‘co-wife’ has been tested, her status should be similar to mine. I see no need for the test," she said. Her logic did not go down well with the first woman, leading to an argument that quickly degenerated into a physical fight. The women tore each other’s clothes, exposing their private parts to the world.
When contacted, the man at the centre of the love triangle said the duo had become a bother to him and had sacked them.
