Immigration

Immigration is the entering into a foreign country and settling in it. The United States of America has time and again been referred to as a nation of Immigrants with pro immigration lobbyists arguing that, it's only a matter Of when your generation arrived-otherwise we are all immigrants except for the Red Indians. Of course such a statement can't fly without resistance from those who feel more American than their fellow citizens. Yes, you can be an American citizen and yet be referred to as an immigrant on grounds that Stretch from the fact that you are a come lately to the actuality that your English is laced with an accent. Unlike other countries where their Nationals Share the same physical characteristics and can identify their own by lets say hair texture. The scenery is very different here. Americans range from black to white with so many shades of skin color in between. Why is the case so? Easy, Americans have unique ancestries, ones that came from every corner of the world. Immigration is as old as humanity and several examples can be invoked from the Bible, the Koran and history literature. All have accounts of man moving from one political region to another. The reasons that prompt such movement are no different today than they were in earlier times. Some people are characteristically adventurous. There is no stopping them when they believe they can have a better life in a foreign country. The case is
true even for Christopher Columbus, the highly acclaimed sailor who was credited as the discoverer of America. His discovery was indeed Profitable as it initiated a massive influx of immigrants into America that still remains vigorous to date. Now is immigration a problem or a blessing?

The United States of America has indeed grown to modern day Canaan. It's today's promised land and like in the latter where milk and honey flowed. American roads are believed, to be paved with gold. The available 'gold' is what has made the U.S. an attractive destination for most aspiring Immigrants. Weird but true, immigrants have contributed over the years in piling the stacks of 'gold,' which now look attractive to hopefuls who haven't made it to the United States. A country's wealth can best be measured by its gross production of valuable goods that are in demand both within and abroad. Natural and human resources play a crucial role in achieving notable national wealth. This is because natural resources are the source of raw materials and human skills are indispensable in processing raw materials into finished products. In the U.S. Case the nation is immensely blessed with favorable soils, climates, water bodies, minerals, just to mention but a
few. Still falling under skills, hard work, political freedom, and education amongst other virtuous values have collectively seen the U.S. into becoming the most prosperous country in the face of the earth. American goods are in demand world over. The country has to supply the vast market adequately for it's the existing market that has made this country wealthy in many respects than I can bother to count. Producing for such a huge market requires sufficient manpower. It's here where an imbalance sets in. Technological equipment and machinery have greatly contributed in fixing the Imbalance but the job sector still remains under handed. Testimony lies in the many "Now hiring" signs in virtually all American shopping centers. For more just dig into the classified pages of your daily journals. You will be sure to find thousands of Employers practically begging to hire somebody. Every sensible patriotic soul living in America will agree that the country needs to
sustain its wealth status. Over the years Immigrants have come in handy as a sagacious solution to a much-needed work force. Prosperity goes hand in hand with admitting Immigrants to join in nation building. The optimum of the la latter can't be realized without the previous. It's a matter of recognizing a better priority whether to let in immigrants or to give birth like mice to selfishly fill in the vacuum in the labor sector. In the 90s, America experienced a steep growing of the economy, most of which resulted from advancement in computer technology and the general engineering fraternity. But guess what? Only 5 percent of American college students will receive engineering degrees compared to 25 percent of Russian and 46 percent of Chinese. Records show only 15 percent of American high school graduates have the requirements in mathematics and science courses to qualify for engineering major and less than 40 percent of those who enroll do indeed finish and graduate with an engineering degree. These are grim statistics and are not consistent with the demand this country has for engineers, who are the lifeblood of technological advancements. Consequently America has found its self at a disadvantage in trying to compete with other technologically savvy countries. To maintain its lead in modernization, American companies have had to seek abroad for qualified persons to fill in thousands of engineering jobs. This effort has paid in creating millions of jobs directly and indirectly and at the end of the day the entire American population wins.

Not withstanding, immense economic prosperity has rendered certain manual jobs demeaning to most Americans. However, these manual jobs are essential and have to be performed, if our daily lives are to move on. Immigrants are simply happy and more than eager to perform the jobs Americans find undignified and outright humiliating. Talk of being spoilt. The benefit of such Immigrants doesn't end with performing our perceived 'unpleasant' jobs. They pay Taxes that in due course enrich our federal coffers; they provide a substantial consumer base that is responsible for a healthy economy. An in depth look of the situation will reveal that the immigrant population plays in large part as the only reason why most Americans are having pleasant jobs. Get rid of the entire immigrant population, and the economy will collapse on your lap, Companies will ran out of business and millions Of Americans will loose their jobs.

America enjoys the richest cultural diversity in the whole world. Immigrants say this is the only country you can come to and find your original staple foods, your religion even your favorite social activities. In a word you can't miss much in America. Exposure to Immigrants from several countries has made Americans more tolerant to races, and cultures that are different from
their own. This attitude of hospitality together with the fact that visitors are bound to feel more at home in the U.S. compared to other tourism destinations has given the nation an edge in the Tourism industry. You got to love the French, Italian, Mexican and Chinese cuisine. Most Americans in quest for spiritual and emotional empowerment have sought for yoga. The rich Americans prefer their houses to feature European, Mediterranean and sometimes-tropical architecture. From sports arenas to Hollywood foreign-born individuals are in place to entice and sizzle Americans. In brief,
Immigrants have brought in foreign ideas and practices that have made our lives better by infusing in more choices.

America is a sovereign country and it's within its right to protect its border and airport entries from immigrants who lack proper travel documents. It's understandable to control the flow of people into ones country after all other countries do the same. A country is like a family, each one has distinctive abilities that eventually would determine whether they will be rich, middle class, or poor. If family members work hard and become rich, don't they, keep their wealth within the Family? Yes, and there is nothing wrong or unnatural about it. By the same analogy, a rich family will out of need bring in outsiders like maids, chauffeurs, and grounds men who will live in the same compound with them. Now, a family can only have so many outsiders living with them, in the same way a country can only admit so many immigrants depending on need and space. Immigration is indeed a blessing and not a Problem.
