ELECTIONS, A CHANCE TO RIGHT A WRONG

At the age of eight, I had a delusional believe that it was only a matter of time before Kenya rose to the economic prosperity enjoyed by the first tier countries. However, I wasn't entirely out of line to think time-equaled development, since the formula seemed to be reliably true in the West and Kenya appeared to be working closely around the formula with impressive results. I mean those were the times when we had a vibrant public sector.
From the threshold of colonization, traversing to post independence, and shortly into the Nyayo era the Kenyan developmental curve was shooting for the stars. I remember hopeful remarks by those in rural areas, as they confidently believed that soon, they would have electricity, tap water, and tarmac roads just as those living in urban centers. Now, even those living in urban areas are not guaranteed to the most basic amenities.
So, what went wrong? Who is to blame? And what can be done to put the nation back on the economic pedestal?
It's easy to argue that, Kenya finds it's self in an economic stagnation because it has fully exploited it's available resources and therefore, if nothing else comes up like let's say, a discovery of oil; Kenya will never resurrect from the prevailing, economic crisis.
Such is the hopeless message, the Kenyan Government has sent to its nationals. It has failed the people it purports to lead by not projecting and preparing a better future. Kenyans don't need to see spectacular political spins; they need something that will put bread on the table. It's unfortunate, that the incumbent government has chosen to perfect the previous to an art at the expense of the latter.
K.A.N.U has been the ruling Party since independence. The fact that it has now merged with N.D.P to create NEW K.A.N.U is yet another remarkable spin designed for sailing the current Government through the elections and back to their strategic positions, where they will continue to loot the public coffers in a fashion, only rivaled by hyenas.
President Moi's presidential era and his Government have unscrupulously sunk Kenyans onto the bedrock of poverty and hopelessness, it's even ridiculous, that they are proud to contest in the coming elections. They have had the time, the opportunity, and the resources to steer the nation's economic train to the destination of prosperity. But, In spite of their experience and time on the side the captain and his crew have chosen to grind the engine to a halt every so often. And throw the entire train off the rails whenever they please, waste time trying to put it back on the rails and when they do, expect their passengers to applaud their effort.
This nonsense that has wasted talents and destroyed dreams must be brought to an end. Kenyans are approaching a train stop. It's a golden chance to kick out the captain and his malicious crewmen.
Hopefully Kenyans will find a competent and honest crew, to revive the journey to economic prosperity come election day.
