Elect leaders who respect human dignity-First Lady
Addressing a mammoth crowd at Gusii Stadium on Sunday the First Lady urged Kenyans to elect President Kibaki for upholding respect for human life and for demonstrating high levels of tolerance since coming into office in 2002.
Thanking the Gusii community for supporting President Kibaki since his first Presidential bid in 1992, Mrs. Kibaki called on the community not to be misled by sweet talking people who were out to ride on their backs to get on to power.
She criticized some politicians who showed disrespect and intolerance exhibited by leading politicians who she added thrived on hate campaign.
"Why does a politician vying for the leadership of this country incite Kenyans against one another and show no respect for others including misleading innocent youth?" She posed.
The First Lady told the opposition to show political maturity and respect for President Kibaki's government saying it was a popularly elected government of the people.
She urged the police to take action against those spreading hate campaigns saying these campaigns had found their way in electronic media with negative effects.
She cautioned Kenyans against voting blindly during the forthcoming general election because they risked installing an intolerant regime by electing political leaders who disregarded the will of the people.
She praised President Kibaki for consistently respecting the decision of the people, adding that the President does not have any history of imposing leaders against the wishes of voters which she said were the cause of clashes among supporters of different aspirants in the country.
Speaking at the function, roads Minister Simeon Nyachae declared a contest has been launched among the ten Kisii constituencies to ensure that President Kibaki got a majority of votes in Gusii land.
The Minister further urged Kenyans to elect President Kibaki for guiding Kenyans in wealth creation and for significantly reducing poverty in the country adding that a leader can be identified for championing the improved quality of life for his people regardless of their political inclination.
