President warns architects of Kuresoi violence
The President warned that stern action would be taken against the perpetrators of violence in Kuresoi, saying the Government was closing in on them.
Speaking in Kisii Monday, Kibaki said those behind the clashes had schemed to grab the abandoned land. "All those who have fled Kuresoi will be assisted to return immediately and continue with their normal lives," said the President.
He added: "Some people are targeting the lands of those they had attacked, but it can’t happen. The land belongs to those who bought it and the former owners must accept the reality that it no longer belongs to them."
The President was speaking as he took his campaigns to Gusiiland for the second time in a month, where he created Manga and South Gucha districts. He said local leaders would determine the boundaries of Manga, which he curved out of the equally new Masaba District, while South Gucha, which he also curved from South Kisii District, would cover the South Mugirango constituency.
Earlier, booing and heckling marred Kibaki’s campaign rally at Nyamache Stadium in Bobasi constituency, Gucha District. The President addressed the meeting amid murmurs Monday after residents forced Roads minister, Mr Simeon Nyachae, to cut short his speech.
