Kalonzo - I Haven't Been to State House

The ODM-Kenya presidential candidate has accused his enemies of peddling rumours that he had visited President Kibaki at State House.
Mr Kalonzo Musyoka said those peddling the rumours were out to confuse his supporters that he had a secret agenda with the President.

"I have no business meeting Kibaki because I want to replace him at State House," Kalonzo said when he campaigned at Nyangwete Primary School grounds in South Mugirango constituency, Gucha.

He dismissed the claims as propaganda perpetuated by PNU members after they allegedly realised that they were on the verge of losing the election. On the report the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights released on abuse of State resources, Kalonzo told the Electoral Commission of Kenya (ECK) to take action against PNU.

Kalonzo, who was campaigning in Kisii, said the Kenya National Human Rights Commission's report on the misuse of State resources was true and should be acted upon. "You can't use government machinery in campaigning and then assure Kenyans they will have a free and fair elections. This is the highest form of corruption and I urge fellow Kenyans to reject President Kibaki's promise that he will fight corruption if given a fresh mandate," said Kalonzo.

He petitioned ECK to take action against the President and his PNU team, which he claimed had openly been using taxpayers' money to entice voters.

He said even before the report, Kenyans had seen Cabinet ministers and top government officials driving to campaigns in top-of-the-range government vehicles.

The party's parliamentary candidate for North Mugirango, Mr Ben Momanyi, and former South Mugirango MP, Mr David Kombo, accompanied him.

The former Mwingi North MP appealed to the Abagusii to support his candidature, saying that as a Christian, he would implement his pledges. Kalonzo later held rallies at Kiogoro in Nyaribari Chache constituency and Omunono in North Mugirango where he also drummed support for his party's civic and parliamentary candidates.
