Technocrats sail through primaries

Top technocrats who quit their lucrative jobs to join politics seem to have adjusted well in the rough and tumble of politics, smoothly sailing through party nominations. Some of them floored top guns to set the stage for the big battle on December 27. Former head of Civil Service, Dr Sally Kosgey, sailed through in Aldai to carry the ODM flag. Prof Margaret Kamar, clinched the ODM ticket.

Mr James Ongwae, who worked as a Civil Servant, clinched the Kitutu Chache ODM parliamentary ticket. In the list too is immediate former Standard Group Managing Editor, Mr Chaacha Mwita, who clinched the Kuria ODM ticket. A publisher and columnist with The Standard, Mr Barrack Muluka, also secured the ODM ticket for Khwisero.

In North Eastern, Mr Abubakar Godana Hungura, got the ODM flag in Laisamis while former KBC chairman, Mr Jarso Falana, won the party ticket in Saku. Dr Paul Otuoma succeeded in Funyula while Mr James Rege sailed through in Karachuonyo to end Dr Adhu Awiti’s 10-year dominance. Others include Dr Adrien Mukhebi (Bumula), former MD for Coopers and Lybrand Kenya Mr Charles Onyancha (Bonchari) on an ODM ticket. In Kuresoi, Mr Zachayo Cheryuiyot got the ODM ticket.

In Bobasi, Naftali Mogere, the former MD National Cereals and Produce Board and NSSF secured the Narc-Kenya ticket. Former KNH director, Dr Meshack Onguti, was cleared by TIP for the Kitutu-Masaba ticket while Prof Mayaka Mong’oni of Usiu got ODM-Kenya nod. Prof Ratemo Michieka, a former Nema director, got an NPPK ticket in Nyaribari Masaba. In Sotik, Brg (rtd) Alexanda Sitienei won an ODM ticket while former top State spy with NSIS, Mr Samuel ole Kuntai, got the ODM nod for Kilgoris.
