Elders Want Obwocha to Unite the Abagusii

Leaders from Nyamira District yesterday called on Planning minister Henry Obwocha to unite the Abagusii ahead of the General Election, next year.

The leaders said Roads minister Simeon Nyachae had failed to convince his people to speak in one voice.

In a press statement read on their behalf by Nyamira Town Council chairman, councillor Joshua Osumo, the leaders said Nyachae had not convened a single meeting for local leaders to push for the community's needs.

"We are now calling on Obwocha to take on the mantle of Omogusii because elections are near and our house is divided," said Osumo.

The leaders said other tribes were united and that is why they had bigger bargaining power in the sharing of the national cake.

"In Kenyan politics today, your views will not be considered unless you are united," the statement read in part.
