Officers Face Murder Charges
Kisii police boss Julius Mwakule said the trio must be held accountable for the loss of the "innocent child's life."
"The riots at Nyatieko secondary school did not warrant the use of live ammunitions and since a life was lost, we will have no other charge to prefer on the trio other than murder, said the Officer Commanding Police Division.
He disclosed that 27 bullets were fired during the Monday morning incident.
"One fired 17, another six while the third fired four. It has become hard to tell who fired the fatal bullet, leaving us with no option but to charge the officers for the same offence, he told the Nation in his office.
Selemani Marori died of a single bullet fired.
The APs, now in custody, claimed they had no teargas canisters, which they should have used to disburse the students.
Master Selemani had been to secondary school life for only two weeks.
The instution has since been closed.
