Ongeri Challenges Nyachae's Development Record
Ongeri said that for the few years he (Ongeri) has been in the Government he has initiated development projects especially in the health sector.
He wondered why Nyachae was not using his wealth to alleviate poverty which has engulfed the majority of his Nyaribari Chache constituents.
He cautioned the Abagusii community against being persuaded by Nyachae to decamp from Kanu to the Opposition party Ford-People which he claimed has no future for the community.
He said that Abagusii should realise that if the Nyaribari Chache MP never assisted them when he was in Government he will not do it even if he is given the higher office in the country.
Ongeri, who is the Kisii Kanu branch chairman, cautioned youths against being used by some selfish politicians for their own political gains.
On the Kanu/NDP merger, he accused leaders from Kisii and Nyamira Kanu branches of scheming to thwart his efforts of vying for the post of vice chairman.
At the same time, Ongeri and former Cabinet Minister Andrew Omanga have urged Abagusii leaders to embrace the spirit of development so as to uplift the living standards of the Kisii, adds Willice Ochieng.
Ongeri, Omanga and Kisii Kanu branch organising secretary John Anunda told a large crowd at Keumbu that matters relating to education, health and other development spheres should be prioritised instead of useless politicking which had nothing to offer the people.
The trio were speaking at the Keumbu sub-district hospital on Tuesday when officials of the Japanese International Corporation Agency (JAICA) led by resident representative Shinichi Matsuura and second secretary at the Japanese Embassy in Nairobi, Masanori Yuzawa handed over health equipment worth millions of shillings to the Ministry of Health.
Ongeri said efforts to rehabilitate Masimba, Keumbu, Manga, Nduru, Marani, Keroka, Ekerenyo, Ogembo, Nyamache and Kenyenya health centres was a show of development by the Kanu Government.
He instructed the Director of Medical Services, Dr Richard Muga, Nyanza PMO Dr Ambrose Misoe and the Kisii District Medical Officer to avail X-ray equipment at the elevated Keumbu sub-district hospital.
