A Rousing Welcome for Nyachae in Kisii

Simeon Nyachae's presidential campaign team was yesterday treated to a heroic welcome at Gusii Stadium in his Kisii Central District backyard.

Nyachae, whose marathon speech was cheered by thousands of party supporters, charged that Kanu is sinking due to its empty promises to Kenyans since independence.

He said that since independence, Kenyans have been languishing in poverty and other social shortfalls due to empty promises in the party's manifesto.

The immediate former Nyaribari Chache MP also said his determination to seek the mandate of Kenyans for the Presidency is due to his knowledge of where things went wrong and how they can be corrected.

He said the Government is largely to blame for the problems that bedevil Kenya's economy pointing out that the agricultural, health, educational and other sectors were dilapidated due to its poor management skills.

"When Ford People takes over after the General Election, Kenyans should be assured that I will fulfil my promises of improving their living standards," Nyachae stated.

Nyachae, Kimani wa Nyoike, Kipkalya Kones and several speakers from North Eastern, Nyanza, Western, Rift Valley and Nairobi said they wanted to Kenya governed through shared responsibilities.

Also to address the mammoth crowd were outgoing Gusii MPs Jimmy Angwenyi, Omingo Magara, Zebedeo Opore, Zephania Nyang'wara, Henry Obwocha and former Makueni MP Onesmus Mboko.

The outgoing MPs, Dr Hezron Manduku and Reuben Oyondi told the crowd that Nyachae's performance in the Provincial Administration and the Cabinet shownhim as a reliable and competent leader.

Separately, the Minister for Health Prof Sam Ongeri yesterday claimed Ford-P leaders are using violencein their campaign, adds Biketi Kikechi.

He said the use of violence will not stop Kanu from sweeping the majority seats in Gusii. Ongeri said Kanu was "causing ripples" which was why Ford-P was employing armed youths to scare the electorate.
