Election 2002 Countdown: Nyachae presents papers amid song

The large crowd, which included several youths who were riding bicycles and brandishing miniature flags and posters of Nyachae, escorted him from his Nyosia village home to Keumbu hall.
The midday presentation of the papers by Nyachae to the ECK official Thomas Okong'o was also graced by outgoing MPs Zebedeo Opore, Jimmy Angwenyi, Omingo Magara, Zephania Nyang'wara and North Mugirango Ford People nominee Geoffrey Masanya, among others.
Kanu's ticket bearer Andrew Omanga and the Narc's ticket holder John Okemwa are to present their papers today.
Public Health Minister, Prof Sam Ongeri, was also yesterday escorted by hundreds of supporters as he presented his nomination papers at Masimba divisional headquarters, Nyaribari Masaba constituency.
Placard-waving youths thronged Masimba town together with several aspiring Kanu councillors to cheer Ongeri with song and dance throughout the morning.
Meanwhile, former Assistant Minister Zebedeo Opore was yesterday rushed to Keumbu sub-district Hospital after he was attacked by people believed to be Ford People supporters along Kisii-Keumbu road.
