Three people were critically injured and two houses burnt yesterday when Ford people and Kanu youths clashed.
A cow was also killed during the incident in Bobasi constituency in Gucha, following a the fierce fight.
Trouble started when Kanu youths pinning up Finance Minister Chris Obure's campaign posters at Mosiabano village were confronted by Ford People youths who started removing and tearing them up.
A fight ensued which lasted more than three hours and spread to the nearby Itibo market where a shop belonging to a supporter of Mr Obure was looted.
Two weeks ago, two supporters of the Finance minister had their homes raided while one was critically injured.
Gucha police boss Wilfred Mbiti said two people had been arrested over the raid. He said a temporary police post would be established at Itumbe market.
At the same time, two Catholics priests have accused Gucha police of trying to cover up the burning of houses and shooting of people by the GSU last week along the Gucha/Trans Mara border during an operation against cattle rustlers.
Fr Apolinaris Masese of Sengera parish and Fr Vincent Simba of Nyangusu parish claimed that the GSU shot and injured several people during the operation.
They said they were ready to take observers to the affected homes and dismissed Mr Mbiti's denials that no houses were burned and that nobody had been shot by the GSU.
The clergymen claimed they had the names of those who were shot and were ready to provide evidence to prove that many people had been terrorised and a lot of property destroyed.
Those shot included Mr Ibrahim Momanyi, Mr N. Nyang'wara, Mr Dennis Meroka, Mr Darius Auka, Mr Jared David and Mr Mokua Onsongo who are admitted to hospitals in Gucha and Kisii.
The priests said scores of families have fled and sought refuge in the interior parts of Gucha.
Fr Simba said: "We do not want a repeat of the 1992 and 1997 violence when voters were denied their right of voting by clashes."
