Police Cite Political Motive in Magara Murder

Police investigations into last weekend's murder of former Bomachoge MP, Zedekiah Magara, now indicate a possible political motive.

Kisii Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD), Anderson Wambugu, yesterday said they have traced evidence on an earlier incident allegedly involving the suspect held in connection with the murder and another political campaigner.

"We are following claims that the suspect had earlier used his vehicle to drive a Ford People campaigner to another contender's home," Wambugu said.

The Ford People candidate Mr Joel Onyancha, separately said both the late Magara and the other man had been his campaigners.

Meanwhile, six suspects have been arrested in connection with Sunday's murder of a Gem politician Elijah Obare Asiko.
Nyanza police Boss David Korir said the suspects were arrested in Yala, Siaya District.Korir said the suspects were being interrogated by the police before they could be charged in court."We are interrogating the suspects and we are optimistic of getting vital information from them," he said.
