Intense Lobbying in Kisii

Kisii town was yesterday plunged into a series of lobbying between delegates allied to cabinet ministers Prof Sam Ongeri on one side and Mr Chris Obure on the other.

By mid-day, the pro-Ongeri delegates from Kisii, Nyamira, Gucha and Kuria districts were huddled at the local Kanu branch office where they held consultations with local organising secretary John Anunda, secretary Richard Onyonka and executive officer Christopher Onchari.

The Kuria NDP/Kanu delegates numbering 60 led by Messrs Roswa Getama and Chacha Mabanga travelled to Kisii by a bus hired by the Ongeri team. The Ongeri group, which was set to leave Kisii at dawn for Nairobi in three buses, included 25 delegates from Nyamira led by the branch vice-chairman, Dr Ombachi Mogeni, and some 18 Kanu and NDP delegates from Gucha.

But the Obure team, led by Gucha county council chairman Julius Ongaki, also arrived in Kisii town as early as 7 am wooing more supporters for the Bobasi MP in the quest for national vice-chairmanship.
