KISII.COM

A message from the webmaster:

Thank you all for all your patience for the last two years that I have “upgrading the website” . I have at last put this work together and hopefully many of you will enjoy all the hard work and expense that went into it. I am very excited about the project as it gets us to the new phase of the Kisii.Com community. After listening to all your requests on what you wanted to see and have on the new site, I trust that I have achieved the goal of meeting all of your expectations. Even though there will be some individuals who may not inevitably see eye to eye on some aspects of the site, I would only ask them to give it a chance as I did what is most feasible.

Briefly go over the new changes;

First off, you will discern that we have changed from the theme colour of blue to white. Besides many asking for updates on the site, this is one of the things that most readers asked for. Wherever obligatory, I may alter the background colour to meet the need of that specific content but for the majority of the website we are stickling to white. Distinctly, we have moved on from .html to php which has greatly given me the aptitude and flexibility to bring back or introduce many new features and focus. Highly making the site interactive, PHP has enabled the website to be entirely searchable. This is the single most important achievement that I am very proud of more especially that we more than quadrupled the content on this new site. However, please note that the search on the Portal will not render results from the Forum. Until I figure out a way to merge the two database queries, use whichever one ( or both) that is appropriate to your needs. The interactive nature will also enable my colleagues to make changes and additions from virtually any connected terminal without having to send it to myself.

Features;

Among the features that we have brought back and added are: the Chat Room which is more innate and faster loading. You do not require a password to log in but you are welcome to use one in if you want to secure your alias. The Poller will show up on certain pages so please feel free to vote on the several polls we will putting up. The Guestbook is back including an archive on all the entries that we have had since the first guest book in 2001. Please use the Contact Us form to send any messages to myself . Further, use the individual email address to send communication to the other editors ( these can be found on the Editorial panel page). RSS News Feeds from both Kenya and around the world will continue to be added on the News Feeds page. The Links page will host all the links that we previously and any new additions. We have opened up the Shop again that you can use to support the causes we sometimes fundraise for here on Kisii.Com ( or even when you just want to purchase Kisii.Com merchandise). The Shout Box is back for all those junkies who want to stay anonymous in passing messages to other community members. Instead of duplicating my own work, I have redirected any access to Abagusii media ( music, pictures, videos and other recordings) to the sister site http://kenyans.org. Additionally, we have largely expanded The News archives to articles from 1996 to date. This enormous amount of information was most tasking and will be a work in evolution for the next few days. – just search!!
